November/December 2009 High Power Rifle Matches

November 2009 High Power Service Rifle Match
        Robert Coffey won the November Service Rifle match with a score of 578-8X.  He won the Slowfire Prone match with 98-2X, the Rapidfire Prone match with 196-4X and the Rapidfire Sitting match with 197-2X.   Victor Murillo won the Offhand match with a score of 93-1X.
        Four shooters fired the 50 yard rimfire silhouette match this month.  George Gaskill won the match with a score of 15.
        The weather was very comfortable; a great day to be at the range.  Turnout was only 8 shooters in high power plus another two for the silhouette match.  We usually blame attendance decreases this time of year on the upcoming holidays and preparation for same; no reason to blame anything else this month.
        Tom Temple again served as Range Safety Officer and called the match.  And John Bottomley called the silhouette match.  Thanks again, gentlemen.
        Next match is December 5 (see the 2009 match schedule) and it is a 50 shot National Match course.  The December auxiliary match will be a 60 shot pistol match, any pistol, any sights.  See our new pistol page for more details.  Shooters who wish to fire the pistol match only should plan to arrive at the range by 10 AM for a pre-match orientation.  We are aiming for a 9:30 AM start time for the match.  See you there.

December 2009 High Power Rifle Match
        Robert Coffey won the December match with a score of 479-13X, taking the Slowfire Prone match with 191-5X, the Rapidfire Prone match with 100-4X and the Rapidfire Sitting match with 98-3X.  George Gaskill won and the Offhand match with 96-2X.
        Winter is making an early appearance, global warming or not; the 9 AM temperature was 48° but with little wind.  Like last December, the Christmas season and the slow economy seemed to cut our turnout to only seven high power shooters and one additional pistol shooter.
         Range Safety Officer Tom Temple called and supervised the match this month and John Bottomley called and supervised the pistol match; our thanks to both of them.
         The auxiliary match was a 60 shot pistol match at 25 yards.  It was fired by only three shooters.  George Gaskill won the match with a aggregate score of 497-7X.  He won the Slow Fire match with a score of 153-2X, the Timed Fire match with 179-3X and the Rapid Fire match with a score of 165-2X.
