July 2009 High Power Rifle Match
        Victor Murillo won the July Service Rifle match with a score of 565-10X, in the process winning the Prone Rapidfire match with 194-4X. Dean Hendrickson won the Prone Slowfire match with 99-6X and the Sitting Rapidfire match with 191.   James Liu won the Offhand match with 91-2X.
        Joe Duarte and Victor Murillo fired the 20 shot silhouette match.  Victor won with a total of 11.
        The weather was nice; clear and sunny but not oppressively hot.  Attendance was only eight shooters which we will blame on the Independence Day Holiday.
        Tom Temple again served as Range Safety Officer and called the match.  Thanks again, Tom.
        For those interested in Army publications regarding the M1 and M14 rifles, we now have copies of FM 23-5 and FM 23-8 on the website plus a treatise on developing a civilian Infantry Trophy team.  They are at the bottom of the High Power Rifle--the Basics page.
        Next match is August 1 (see the 2009 match schedule) and it is a 50 shot National Match course.  The August auxiliary match will be a 60 shot pistol match, any pistol, any sights.  See our new pistol page for more details.  Shooters who wish to fire the pistol match only should plan to arrive at the range by 10 AM for a pre-match orientation.  We are aiming for a 9:30 AM start time for the match.  See you there.

August 2009 High Power Rifle Match
        Dean Hendrickson won the August rifle match with a score of 469-10X, in the process winning the Prone Rapidfire match with 99-4X.  Victor Murillo won the Prone Slowfire match with 194-6X and tied the Sitting Rapidfire match at 97-3X with Robert Coffey.  Bruce Kawaguchi won the Offhand match with 95-1X.
          Four shooters fired the 60 shot pistol match.  George Gaskill won with a score of 493-5X.
        The weather was nice; clear and sunny but not oppressively hot.  Attendance was once again eight shooters for the rifle match and an additional two shooters for the pistol match.
        We continue to shoot the rapid fire stages under the new NRA rules that have everyone starting in the basic firing position.  See the NRA Rules changes page, particularly Sections 7 and 10.1.7.
