President's Letter:
Dear Membership,
This letter will start with the “GOOD NEWS“, followed by the “NOT SO GOOD NEWS“.

GOOD NEWS is the LARC Officers and Board have elected to reduce the High Power match fee for members only. The range fee will be reduced to $10.00 effective July 4th 2009. This is an appropriate date and demonstrates that an organization can operate within its’ budget. The non member fee will be increased to $15.00. This will provide an incentive for a guest shooter to sign up as a member. As in the past, if the guest shooter signs up after the match, he / she will get credit for the match and the membership will in effect be $5.00. This should encourage a guest shooter to consider membership if they plan to return anytime during the year. Membership runs from June to June of the following year.

NOT SO GOOD NEWS is ammunition and reloading components are scarce if not impossible to find. Demand for reloading components far exceeds manufacturing capacity. There is a reluctance of manufacturers to install new/additional equipments less this is a temporary surge in demand. Hording has to reach some limit, a bedroom full of powder and primers? Wherever the stuff is going the club is beginning to feel the impact. Maybe we will have more shooters in the Low Power (.22 cal.) Match along with the High Power Match just to continue our activities. The July 09 issue of American Rifleman (pages 38 and 39) covers part of this problem, it is worth reading. At the June 9th LARC business meeting, there was a discussion on how this shortage will affect our High Power match. A suggestion was made that we ask members who are no longer active and may have reloading components for help. A system/ plan could be developed that the club would receive the surplus reloading components, then make available to the appropriate member /active shooter. An allotment based on prior club shooting activity would ensure components will be used for intended purposes. Appropriate monetary compensation for any reloading components will be reimbursed to the donors. Please contact any club Officer if you can help. After building this club up, we do not want to see it declines because of the lack of shooting supplies.

As of the last business meeting, we have processed 30 renewal and new membership applications. If you have not mailed your renewal, please do so ASAP. The membership list will be prepared and mailed when we have most of the renewals returned. New members who joined the club this year Jan 09 --dues are not required on renewal.

Per BY LAWS, election for Officers and Board took place during the June Business meeting. The Officers and Board were re- elected to the same positions and agreed to serve for another year. The smooth operation of the LARC is the result of excellent volunteers who have the best interest of the club and for its growth. Thank you all!

Next match will be July 4th. This is Service Rifle match, have extra ammo, 62 rounds, with 60 of those shots for record. Last year July 4th weekend had an impressive 14 shooters turnout. Follow-on match will be the Silhouette match.

August 1st, is High Power match, 52 rounds, with 50 of those rounds for record. Follow-on match will be the Pistol match.

Joe Duarte,
President
